| I am glad to see the action taken by this forum against Z1. My complaints with them are many, but here was my last edxperience with them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In April of 07 I sent my mint 94 twin turbo (78k well taken care of w/ginger miles) to Z1 for a turbo upgrade and a host of other goodies. They were given two cameras and told to take pics of the work (mostly for portfolio) and to keep and return all core parts. The car was supposed to be ready within 30 days. I ended up getting it back in mid-July (after the Z1 show). In any event, after spending close to $12,000, I had a chance to look at the core parts I received back and here is what I was missing: 1. both turbos 2. clutch and flywheel 3. water pump 4. upper plenum 5. oem pulleys 6. oem manifolds 7. 16 red powder coated coil pack bolts 8. 6 555 injectors 9. 16 chromee bolt valve covers 10. 2 high flow race cats After much haggling with z1 and even Russell himself, they offered me a store credit of $300.00. I threatened to sue and settled for $300.00. Most of the above parts they claimed were not on the car when I bought it in (I still have all reciepts for the parts that were on the car when I brought it in). I think the turbos alone were worth $300.00. In addition, the wiper fluid light was on--I never squirted a single drop after I left Z1 (this suggests a leak in the line). I wouldn't bring the car back for just that to be repaired--so do you think thye would have offered to pay for that small expense at a local shop (I live 2 hrs away from Z1). The idle wasl erratic at times, I have researched this and this seems to be common (some suggest that I should have avoided the doolz at my current power level), Z1 never suggested that and they sold and charged me for the chrome version, even though I never asked for a chrome one but I can live with that. The air bag light was on continually. Z1 claimed it was on when I brought the car in, but no one ever mentioned it. After doing some research and asking Russell prior to making Z1 aware of the issue, Russell admitted, and I qoute: "There is an airbag diagnostic procedure in the service manual that will flash codes, but it will only tell you so much. It's almost always a result of a broken clock spring (spiral cable). This usually happens because the steering column gets disconnected from pulling the motor for instance. While the lower U-joint gets disconnected the wheel gets turned all the way around and put back together. Then next time you cut the wheel all the way one way the spiral cable reaches it's limit and breaks. You can remove the steering wheel, check continuity on the terminals of the clock spring and replace if neccessary. They are very expensive new. We've sold many used ones for much more reasonable prices. The TT ones are different than the NA because of a sterring angle sensor for the HICAS on the TT. We have plenty of NA but we often stay sold out of TT ones. Once replaced the airbag light can be reset with a silly procedure in the service manual or with a Consult." Finally Z1 conceded the following, "Given this information, and the fact that the engine was pulled, it is obvious to me that this is just another issue that was missed (like the cruise control, test pipes, and wiper fluid line)." The cruise control did not work and still doesn't, they would have missed putting on the test pipes had I not looked under the car and the wiper fluid line has never been reattached. (I have not really driven the car). Also, the high beams would not work (I have since fixed that issue w/ Russell's help as a bad fuse inside the engine fuse box--about $40.00 bucks I think--they never offered to pay for that--the high beams were working when it went in and Z1 never brought to my attention they were not--is this a pattern developing here? The car had to be re-dynoed b/c they forgot to put on the test pipes. I was charged for 8hrs of dyno time with the wrong setup and then when the test pipes were finally put on, 30 minutes of actual dyno time was done while I went for fast food grub and returned from down the street. Oh, btw, I never received the pre-cats (I didn't know the TT had them)(I only knew after doing time on sites like these). The last straw was when I finally decided to discard the cats at a local salvage 2 days ago when i heard they were going for $100 a piece (Z1 offereed me a $100.00 store credit back then). Guess what, they were gutted--worthless. I just dumped them at the junk yard so I wouldn't have them laying around anymore. After the $300.00 settlement deal, I even gave Z1 a nice write up on the performance of the car--before I knew about the cruise, wiper fluid line, cats and pre-cats et. al. I know my $11,382.29 may be a drop in the bucket for what others might spend there--but I had long been a Z1 customer (with my 91 2+2 that I still have). I also intended on bringing my 2003 350z for the APS TT w/ other goodies to be installed this July---I estimated this project at 15k. I guess Z1 has lost me as a loyal customer.
